IHF in his own words

'Could you tell me what you could afford to pay, and I will work within that limit.' IHF in a letter to Paul Brown about postcards, November 1972

Visitor comment

'However I finally visited Little Sparta - after 20 years of wanting to go. I was warmly welcomed and had lots explained to me and then miraculously I had the place to myself on one of the most beautiful afternoons I have ever spent - quite alone and soaking up the bucolic atmosphere ' Visitor to Little Sparta, August 2019

Grateful thanks....

... to our supporters so far in 2020. As well as grants for specific projects, we always need unrestriced funds for small conservation tasks in the garden.

Volunteering at Little Sparta – currently suspended for coronavirus restrictions

Volunteers are welcome at Little Sparta and are vital to our future development. We wish to appoint individuals to support front of house and visitor services activity and promise an enjoyable and rewarding experience with the opportunity to learn more about the work of Ian Hamilton Finlay and his garden.

We will provide training and offer our volunteers a free admission credit for every session worked. You could either bring a friend with you each time, or save them up for a group outing. For further information on volunteering, please contact Laura Robertson.

Thank you

The Little Sparta Trust would like to thank all the individuals, trusts and charitable foundations whose generosity has been and continues to be vital to the future upkeep of the garden and its contents.
